Bark About It

I have compiled lists of products that I really like. Not all toys/treats/chews are created equal. Clients are encouraged to contact me and ask questions if they are not certain about a product. When it comes to dog supplies in most instances you get what you pay for! These items can be found online but some are also sold at local small business.

PLEASE shop local whenever you can!

Training Treats

Treats used for training should be small, moist and smelly! A small amount goes a long way; for most dogs a pea size works great. The fewer ingredients the better and most of them should be easily recognizable.

It is important to know your dogs treat preferences in a general order of value. Avoid using things at the top of list when food of lesser value will do but don’t be stingy when it counts! When practicing recalls and counter classical conditioning you should use the highest of value for your animal.

Some treats I commonly use are (usually cut smaller!) click below for links!

You can use anything your dog likes! (Including their kibble!) I will often make my own treats at home out of raw or cooked meats.

Toys

Some toys are designed for interactive play ( with you!) and some the dogs can enjoy without you. Depending on your relationship and training goals with your dog, you may want to limit what he has access to without you! If they can have just as much fun without you why would they want to play with you? Tug and fetch toys can be used in training, bonding, and exercising your dog. Dogs often enjoy play more than food! Other dogs may need to be taught to enjoy tugging or playing fetch.

Chews

Chewing is normal and necessary for ALL dogs. It is important to provide them with safe and appropriate chew that they like. If you do not, you may find them chewing on your things instead! Chewing can be relaxing and soothing to dogs. Chews can be edible or inedible, but ALL come with some risk. Please supervise your dog chewing, especially with anything they have not had before. Some dogs are such tenacious chewers that they will crack or break teeth. Here are a few of my favorite chews for dogs.
