Board & Train
We train your dog.
** VERY LIMITED PROGRAM **
The Motivated K9 offers a very limited Board & Train program to existing clients (with a few exceptions). Unlike most board and train programs, we do not make claims we can’t keep — training will rarely transfer 100%. And we firmly believe you need to start in private lessons and be committed to keeping up with the training once your dog comes home.
That means we only recommend looking at board and train in a few specific circumstances:
Big Dog, Small Handler
If you’re worried about training because your dog is physically larger or stronger than you, we can jump start your training.
Reactivity: Getting Started
Reactivity is one place a professional handler’s experience and timing can make a big difference, especially in the beginning.
Reactivity: Stalled Progress
If you’ve been working on reactivity and have hit a plateau or a wall in your training, a Board and Train can often help.
Boarding (with some training thrown in)
If you’re actually interested in our in-home boarding but would like us to work on a few specific things while your dog is here.
Jumpstart or Breakthroughs for Private Training Clients
If you’re a private lessons client and you just need some additional help, board and train may be a good option.
Please note: We do NOT take dogs with separation anxiety
How Board and Train Works
Your dog comes to stay with us, in our home. Depending on the dog, they will either be carefully integrated with our existing pack, or kept separate at all times. We have the ability to have a barrier system in place for dogs with dog-dog aggression or reactivity issues. There are two completely separate outdoor yards for potty and playtime, each of which have a 6-foot fence.
While here, they will participate in our exercise and enrichment programs.
